2007 World Tournament

2007 Worlds will be held in Ardmoor, Oklahoma. I have received many questions on qualifying for this tourney so I e-mail the national office. Here is the response from Dick Hansen, NHPA Sec/Treas,

"To enter the 2007 World Horseshoe tournament you must have pitched in 4 NHPA sanctioned events, (tournaments or leagues) in the 12 months presiding the entry deadline. The entry deadline has not been set yet and will not be until the NHPA Council meets for its winter meeting in January. However that deadline has in the past been the 3rd Thursday in May.
.
So you will need 4 events from May of 2006 to May of 2007 so yes the 2006 World will count as one of the 4."

Hope this helps

August 29...news for the final week

The league is over...now we are off to state this weekend.

Our final picnic and awards will be held on September 26th at 7:00pm at "The Pits". Please bring something to pass. The club is supplying the pork for the evening and Whitey has volunteer to cook it up for us. If you have not had the pleasure of Whitey's cooking you are in for a treat.

Plans are in the making to locate a place to hold some winter horseshoes. If all comes through, we may set up a monthly horseshoe tournament. Keep tuned for more info on this.

I think everything went very well this year. If you have any suggestions for next year, please get ahold of me.

See you next year

Here's wishing you nothing but....dlbrngrs

August 8...News from the Week

Two trees were donated to the club by Doug Connely. Mike McNutt from the Recreation Center brought a backhoe and , along with Doug, Bill and Phil got them both planted and they look awesome. A thank you was sent to Doug and Mike for their generous donations.

The club's tournaments will be held August 19 and August 20 starting at 8:00am both days. Mike McNutt will be bringing over a few bleachers and Whitey will be bringing his large tent. That should take care of the shade. If you have a small pop-up shade tent, please bring in along for the scorekeepers. To go to the state tournament you need to have two tournaments. This would be an excellent time to get that taken care of. Remember that league counts for one tournament.

The world raffle ticket winners were - Marge Kleick (Nebraska), Pette Kumlin (Wisconsin), RonMiller (Georgia), and Dave Morales (Colorado).

Clean up for the tournaments on August 19 and 20 will be August 18th at 6:30pm. Please... all hands on deck. We need to get our pits cleaned up to leave a great impression on all those that visit the courts.

We are having a problem with people not showing up for league night. Unless an emergency arises or you are called away to work, you are expected to be at the courts on Tuesday night at 7:00pm to play. If you are not there (and you did not call Phil) a sub will be filled in when possible. If the games are not made up by the following Monday they will be forefeited. With everyone not showing up, the standings are almost impossible for Phil to get updated.

Everyone needs to be more aware of the scores that are turned in. In one week, there was a win given to the wrong person and on another sheet the scores were added incorrectly by over 20 points. Please make sure that you look over the score sheets before they are turned in. Phil does not go thru them to make sure they are correct !!!

That is about it.... two weeks left, then state on Labor Day Weekend !!!
